where would we be without mothers?

md 2011 :)

it was a really special day for both of us.
mothers day was spent wandering around the franklin park conservatory on a beautiful sunday afternoon with both of our mothers there :)

we had planned to take our mommas to the conservatory for blooms & butterflies on mothers day, which would be the first time they've met.  mark and i have been together almost two years and thought it would be lovely for our families to meet.  considering my family is about an hour and a half west and his family is 2+ hours north... it was not easy.

however, it did happen and was such a wonderful day.  it was a full house and i felt surrounded by love and beauty.  both of our moms and dads, plus my aunt and grandmother came out for the event :)
my heart is still full.

my beautiful momma.

don't step back!

so vibrant and alive.

so cute.

happy mothers day ladies.

dusty & rusty & beauitful.

with winter gone and a rainy spring among us, i have had very few opportunities to dust off my camera and head outdoors for photo therapy. i've been quite guilty of using my iphone or my canon power shot to snap photos and have fallen away from my DSLR out of shear laziness. but last week i felt like i didn't go anywhere without it :) it was magical.

i had the pleasure of meeting a dear friend whom i used to work with.  we had been discussing a small photo shoot for weeks and the weather & our schedules never fell in line at the same time.

finally one evening after work, the rain stopped and with a few texts & good timing, it lead us to an impromptu photo session at a nearby barn.  ms. Kaitlin rose is amazing to work with and so laid back and wonderful.  it was great catching up and capturing her in a beautiful post rain sunset.

Kaitlin - see more on my flickr

we plan to do several more sessions with different themes and locations.  it should be great. this shoot was just what i needed and i cant wait for the next!! i have lots of fun things on my calendar!
please stay tuned!

the 5th of may

last week was quite a busy week and i think we are still catching up from it all....

this year we had our second annual cinco de mayo celebration at our favorite local mexican restaurant : senor patron

it was completely filled with happy people enjoying authentic music, meals and drinks till their hearts were content.  it was a gorgeous day outside and the margaritas were the perfect match!  the evening was so full of sunshine and color...

and we even hung out with the most interesting man in the world.
what a lovely evening with my love.

heaven on earth- its springtime.

its pretty amazing when a capitol city can offer you an amazing escape into a wonderland... just off of broad street.

last year we enjoyed the "blooms and butterflies" exhibit at the franklin county conservatory and i do hope to make it an annual event, however, last night we drove to Franklin Park just to observe the outside landscaping of the conservatory and its absolutely beautiful this time of year!!!
(future wedding location, i think so!)

walking around at this beautiful location is good for the soul.

reception area?? yes.

i'm so very glad that spring has arrived.

happy martini date night.

the happy greek "martini" happy hour is one of my most favorite ever!!  anytime we can find the time and money to head downtown for dinner we almost always splurge at our most preferred restaurant The Happy Greek.

avoiding chain restaurants is our game and we have been doing very well at finding some real gems in the city of columbus (and surrounding cities).

pita and kopanisti and the gyro voted best in columbus!!! it was a swell evening and cant wait to go back again and again!

love this parking lot surrounded by murals.

the hopeless romantic in me always gets stopped by the Big Rock bridal window displays... swoon!
(maybe someday i'll get to plan a real wedding?!?)

oh and who could forget the most fabulous "dirty" happy greek martini's!!!
to die for.

thats one happy girl ;)
