we photographed our first official wedding together on the 2nd in dayton and both worked on the 3rd so we decided to take it easy for the 4th. i spent most of the day editing photos and relaxing but towards the evening we both felt stir crazy, ready for a cookout and something to set on fire :)

it was a really lovely evening and i was hoping to catch beautiful light as the sun was setting. these locations are only about a mile down the road from our place. we pass a wheat field and farmers market on one side and wide open fields of wild flowers and abandoned land on the other. i just had to use both sides of the road it was perfect!
disclaimer: (mom don't read past this point or i'll get a lecture LOL)
i saw an abandoned house set way back off the road and decided to park in the driveway for a few while we utilized the sunset coming across the field. we got some really fantastic shots and headed back to the car. my original plan was to back right up into the street and head home. i had no plans of driving up near the house. (i mean come on i knew the house looked creepy!) however, as we were walking back to my car a columbus police car pulls in behind me to see what we were doing. when i turned around with my camera still around my neck the female officer leaned out of the passenger window and asked if i was just out taking photos. when i said we were using the sunset and field of flowers she smiled and looked over at her male counterpart who seemed relieved. i told them we were done and about to leave hoping that they would just drive off. instead they told us why they stopped to check on us and it sent chills all over. then it got awkward too.
the officers explained that this home had been raided a while back and discovered to be a meth house and the location of a recent homicide... so they are required to check on anything that happens there. then they instructed us to pull up the drive way because there was a turn around near the house!!! omg. we circled the driveway and i noticed that the cop car was flashing its lights at us now. what the heck?! so i stopped to look back and saw them both get out and walk towards us. they asked if we would settle an argument for them... if we thought the daisies in the field were yellow or orange. weird!! then they continued to talk about the homicide that took place in the house!! it was described to us like the living room and chairs of the texas chainsaw massacre. freaky!!! and to top it all off they told us we could go inside and take pictures if we wanted too. oh my lord i was so freaked out! it was one of the most odd and creepy things i could imagine. right before we hopped in the car the male officer looked at us and said "you just cant trust anyone, there are so many crazies." i wanted to run for my life LOL!
the chances we take for beauty :) and i need to get some mace.

comfest- since 1972
for those of you who do not know...
comfest is a community festival
held annually in columbus ohio at goodale park.
its a three day festival that features local artists, musicians,
businesses, food and fun.
leave nothing behind.
this was my first year attending and i must say it was overwhelming. they expected over 10,000 people there on saturday which happens to be the day we attempted to go. it was virtually impossible to get near shops and became a game of "how on earth do we get thru this crowd?" mark managed to get a pulled pork sandwich but nothing to wash it down with and we decided it was time to escape!!
next year we will plan it out better and i'm sure ill enjoy the experience! after all, i have always been a hippie at heart.
peace & love~
p.s. these images were taken with my new 60D and edited with a new technique :) what do you think?

go #7
several weeks ago i recall being down on my luck, as i often am lately... when opportunity came a knockin...
my very good friend jim asked if i would be interested in photographing his son jakes first tee-ball game ever:) now that sounds like a milestone if i have ever heard of one :) i gladly accepted and i remember being so excited when he texted me that the first game would be on wednesday june 8, 2011.
it was adorable :)
i mean it was absolutely adorable and wonderful! it may have been 96 degrees out, but it was the coolest tee-ball game i have ever been too. that age is so precious and thank you jim for inviting us :)
check out more of the action!

take me away.
mark decided that while he was on break from school, he was going to do some things that he had been wanting to do for awhile but couldn't juggle with school. one of those things was to visit his brother in north carolina. i cringed at this idea because i knew full well there was no way i could get out of work anytime soon to go to the carolinas... and jealousy set in. i'm dying for a vacation and i knew he would have to go it alone while i held down the homestead...
before he left for his extended weekend... we decided to venture to some of our favorite spots for little escapes together...
which usually involves food... we must start dieting soon LOL!!

first stop was mexico.
endless chips and salsa, pitcher of margaritas and a burrito bigger than your head.
next stop was a patio in ireland.
fish & chips (mac&cheese), happy hour and sunshine on the patio.
we ended this traveling spree in japan at Fujiyama but i was too busy eating amazing japanese hibachi food to take photos!
peace & love~
