comfest- since 1972

for those of you who do not know...
comfest is a community festival
held annually in columbus ohio at goodale park.
its a three day festival that features local artists, musicians,
businesses, food and fun.
leave nothing behind.

this was my first year attending and i must say it was overwhelming.  they expected over 10,000 people there on saturday which happens to be the day we attempted to go.  it was virtually impossible to get near shops and became a game of "how on earth do we get thru this crowd?"  mark managed to get a pulled pork sandwich but nothing to wash it down with and we decided it was time to escape!!

next year we will plan it out better and i'm sure ill enjoy the experience!  after all, i have always been a hippie at heart.

peace & love~

p.s.  these images were taken with my new 60D and edited with a new technique :) what do you think?

go #7

several weeks ago i recall being down on my luck, as i often am lately... when opportunity came a knockin...

my very good friend jim asked if i would be interested in photographing his son jakes first tee-ball game ever:) now that sounds like a milestone if i have ever heard of one :)  i gladly accepted and i remember being so excited when he texted me that the first game would be on wednesday june 8, 2011.

it was adorable :)

i mean it was absolutely adorable and wonderful! it may have been 96 degrees out, but it was the coolest tee-ball game i have ever been too.  that age is so precious and thank you jim for inviting us :)

check out more of the action!

take me away.

mark decided that while he was on break from school,  he was going to do some things that he had been wanting to do for awhile but couldn't juggle with school.  one of those things was to visit his brother in north carolina. i cringed at this idea because i knew full well there was no way i could get out of work anytime soon to go to the carolinas... and jealousy set in. i'm dying for a vacation and i knew he would have to go it alone while i held down the homestead...

before he left for his extended weekend... we decided to venture to some of our favorite spots for little escapes together...
which usually involves food... we must start dieting soon LOL!!
first stop was mexico.

endless chips and salsa, pitcher of margaritas and a burrito bigger than your head.

next stop was a patio in ireland.

fish & chips (mac&cheese), happy hour and sunshine on the patio.

we ended this traveling spree in japan at Fujiyama but i was too busy eating amazing japanese hibachi food to take photos!

a father's daughter.

"always faithful"
i have always been a daddy's girl.
he has made me strong and tough and prepared.
i'm so proud to call him my dad.

my father fought for his life and his country and if it weren't for that strength i wouldn't exist.
i try to remember that everyday :)

i got to go home for a short visit this past week and gave my dad his early father's day gift.  mark and i were out and about and came across a store we pass all the time and have never gone to.  The Andersons is amazing!! and we found this wonderful garden stone.  my mom had mentioned that dad was super proud of his tomato plants this year and i was thrilled to find something so personal that he could place in his garden :) tomatoes are my favorite!!

they had their usual banter about where the stone would be placed... for now its in the main flower bed. those two will move it a hundred times i'm sure... but i love that they will enjoy and interact with it.
and dad says "no ones gonna step on it!"

happy father's day everyone.

wedding bells will be ringing!

this year i have decided to get back into the swing of things with my professional photography.  i've been down for too long now... and its time to stand up tall!

wedding photography has been a love/hate (nerve-racking) relationship for me, myself and i. it's the only thing i have come across in my life that can be sooo stressful yet sooo rewarding to photograph.  you typically get one shot at tons of monumental moments in a new couple and their families lives. so you must be quick, sharp and ready!!

i've been the responsible party to photograph at about 8 weddings so far and cant wait to add 3-4 (hopefully more) for this year and next!

my partner in crime (and life) will be by my side to assist and i'm very excited to see what we can create together.  he will take photos and i will take and make photos! we are very excited!

one of the weddings we are so excited about is James & Rachel.  their wedding is october 15 2011 and i just know it will be stunning!  i'd love to share a small series of images i took for their engagement session.

and this is only the beginning :) they are such a cute couple and i took tons of photos!!

I’ve known Rachel for several years now and we have gone through some amazing times together.  Hara Arena brought us together and for a couple of years we were unstoppable there :) Two of my most favorite concert experiences happened with Rach by my side!! I remember meeting James at one of those two shows and could see how smitten he was for her.  it may have taken these two awhile to get together officially over the years... but they are and its incredible.  they both have demanding work lives and much success ahead of them in a variety of ways.  rachel deserves all the happiness in the world and i could see it all over her face during our session together.  We ventured all around that day... from a cozy eccentric county picnic... to a 50’s inspired diner for milkshakes... a quick stop off for an Italian treat and chat about the honeymoon... then a romantic ivy covered wall/industrial alley where I feel I’ve captured their personalities perfectly!!

we cant wait to photograph this wonderful couple on their beautiful wedding day in october!!
