and i will follow you into the dark...

if you know me really well, or even just a lil bit you know that live concerts are the way to my heart & soul.  i have been to a great many shows in my 26 years and i have loved them all for different reasons!

this past week mark and i bought tickets to one of my all time favorite bands: Death Cab for Cutie.  and as always they didn't disappoint and created a magical amazing evening for us all.

this was the second time i've seen them and the first time for mark and i - it was truly a special evening.  it even brought tears to my eyes - it was simply joyous and our best concert to date!!

here was the setlist:

i will possess your heart
the new year
we laugh indoors
crooked teeth
photo booth
doors unlocked and open
long division
grapevine fires
codes and keys
what sarah said
i will follow you into the dark
title track
you are a tourist
underneath the sycamore
title and registration
a movie script ending
soul meets body
stay young, go dancing
cath
the sound of settling
home is a fire
expo 86
marching bands of manhattan
transatlanticism

i completely recommend seeing these guys live anytime you can!!
goodbye july and hello august ;)
what was your favorite activity in july?

all good things...

i have been a serious fan of the harry potter series since i was in high school (2001).  one of my english teachers gave an extra credit assignment to write a comparison paper on the first book against the first movie.  the sorcerers stone movie came out exactly one week after the assignment was given so i borrowed the book from a friend and got reading right away!!  (lord knows i needed the extra credit and it was worth almost two letter grades - she was a fan lol)

i was instantly hooked! i couldn't put the books down!  that christmas my parents bought me all of the books that were published to date and i was a busy gal :)  by that time the first 4 books had been published and i read them all twice before the summer started.  its such a wonderful escape!

then like everyone else in the world i had to eagerly await the last 3 books to come out...  i signed up for amazons delivery program and each time a new book was released it was on my doorstep by noon of the same day... and then i disappeared for several days at a time!  when the very last book arrived i was hesitant at first to even open it because i knew it was all going to be over... several great characters had died already and my heart wasn't ready to lose anymore... these books make me emotional - the wonder and joy was about to end...

i read the final book in less than two days...  part of my soul was complete and part of it was lost forever in those pages... dramatic yes... true yes!!  the harry potter series will always live on in my heart and soul and i try to recommend it to anyone i can.
if you have kids its a must for imagination :)

anyways... mark and i made our way to the theatre this past weekend to watch the final chapter come to an end officially on the big screen.  it was absolutely amazing!  it made me feel like a kid again (ok like i was in high school) because i had seen the very first movie in the theatre and now i was seeing the very last... it was of course... emotional :)

blimey it was bloody brilliant!!

oh my... its been awhile.  i have been working diligently on editing wedding photos... organizing my social media pages... my website... etc... etc... etc... oh yeah and trying to enjoy the fact that its summer :)

mark and i managed to slip away to one of our most favorite summer spots... zoombezi bay here in columbus, ohio.  i had to take a much needed personal day away from work and from home and get out into the sunshine.  we had some drinks, we soaked in the lazy river, we went on the newest slides, we had some more drinks... and basked the day away.  it was marvelous!! cant wait to do it again...
im thinking maybe again for my birthday?!?

whats been your favorite things this summer??

its all happening.

i have disappeared for awhile... but i'm back and here is why :)

as you know... (because i told you here and here)  that it has been a struggle to find the resources, confidence and opportunity to dig back into my photography business...  but so far so good :)  we just recently - july 2, 2011 - had our first official wedding as "Brittany Davis Photography" again.  mark helped assist me and we are one amazing team!!

the event was held at the dayton racquet club in downtown dayton, ohio over the 4th of july weekend.  it was a late afternoon... turned early evening ceremony and reception on the top floor of the tallest building in downtown. breathtaking!!  we were there from start to finish and didn't miss a beat!  we were surrounded by windows and off in the distance in every direction you could see fireworks as well as the dayton dragons playing a baseball game below :)  it was truly spectacular!!

(these are some of our creative edits)

it was a beautiful day & night and i cant wait till the next one ;)  we have 3 more officially booked weddings and are hoping for
much much more to come!!!
check out the full albums here and here.

family is forever. (please lend a helping hand)

as i have mentioned in previous posts... i still struggle quite a bit being so far from family and friends.  yesterday was a joyous occasion to get some much needed family time :) it was a really special day for me. i had a client meeting in dayton and had let friends and family know that i would be in town in hopes to gather for a bit on a sunday afternoon and thank goodness it worked out.  after my appointment...(which went very well and we booked another wedding for sept) i headed over to my sister and brother in laws place for fun in the sun by the pool, drinks and a wonderful cookout!  AT LAST!!!

i got to see my momma, sister, brother in law and my cousin and her family... plus the added bonus of seeing both of my "nephews." (eric & cartman)  even though eric is my nephew by marriage and cartman is a silly lil pekinese... i love them both dearly!!  it meant a lot that eric came out.  i had sent him a message early in the day to let him know i would be around and i was more than thrilled to see him :)

even in the pool we cant let them go :)

 mr. cartman!
 my momma!

its been a tough year for eric and family and we are so very proud of him!  you see... eric was shot while driving home from a show on thanksgiving night in dayton and we were told it would be a long road to recover... if he could ever fully recover.  it broke my heart and soul.  he has come so far since that night and im so proud to be his "aunt".  after all he is the closest i have ever come to being a real "aunt" LOL!

we are both hippies at heart and i love him dearly.  you can read more on my sister's blog.  my sister and brother in law promised eric that if he could walk by christmas this year that they would spend it in hawaii and i desperately want to see this happen.  as you will see from my sisters blog we are asking anyone and everyone to please donate $1 to help us get him to hawaii because his progress is amazing and he deserves it!!  it was great seeing him get into the water! ( gotta love the lifejacket diapers ).

it just may be my most favorite day of summer this year!

peace & love~
